This scholarship will be awarded by the Order of Alba to a full time student pursuing a course of study, at an accredited university, leading to a graduate degree in history, with an emphasis on Scotland. The university may be located in Scotland, but this is not a requirement. The applicant must provide:

• Contact information

• Personal background

• Academic background

• Description of the course of study, particularly its relationship to Scottish history

• Publication plans

• Letters of recommendation

Applications should be submitted electronically to orderofalba@gmail.com. They must be received by January 31st. Scholarships will be announced at the Order of Alba annual meeting in Washington, D.C. in April. Scholarships are for one year, but may be renewed, contingent on proof of satisfactory grades, continuing applicability of the course of study to Scottish history, and availability of funds. The amount of the scholarship may be up to $5,000. However, the amount of the scholarship, and the number of scholarships awarded, may vary from year to year.
