The Order of Alba was organized in the United States on August 27, 2014. It was incorporated in Virginia on May 6, 2015. It was granted IRS 501(c)(3) public charity status effective April 10, 2015. It is an independent, patriotic and lineal society whose name comes from the Gaelic name of Scotland. The Order is a member of the Council of Scottish Clan Society Associations (COSCA).
 
The Order meets once a year in Washington, DC at an event during the Hereditary Society week in April. The inaugural meeting took place on April 12, 2016 at the Army and Navy Club in Washington, D.C. The next meeting will occur in April 2022 at the Army and Navy Club at 901 17th Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20006. 
 
Objective of the Order
Historical and genealogical research and to perpetuate the memory of the Monarchs of Scotland; to bring into one group their descendants; to maintain and promote the traditions of chivalry and knighthood; to recognize acts of merit; to recognize achievements in the Arts, Sciences and Letters; to inspire patriotism and loyalty to our country; and for such other lawful and proper purposes as the Executive Council of the Order may from time to time decide upon. To collect and preserve books on genealogy, family history, heraldry and general history. To collect and preserve documents, manuscripts, relics, records and traditions relating to Scottish Monarchs and their descendants; to create a popular interest in ancient history and genealogy. The Order is non-political and non-sectarian.
